The story of one internship

We are glad to present an interview with our new colleagues, Alina Rodina and Alexandra Petukhova, who not long ago were interns at LeePrime Group.

Tell us, please, how did your internship go? What impressions have stayed with you?

Alexandra:
— My internship went wonderfully. That is probably the only sentence I can offer, because the experience was very useful and very interesting. I was especially struck by the team and by how people treat one another. I do not mean only work matters but support in particular — when someone explains how best to do a task, does not criticise but guides and helps. That was very valuable to me. Another strong impression was what the company does — genuinely large-scale, global projects, which is rare these days. That "wow effect" inspired me.

Alina:
— I also want to say that my internship went wonderfully. That is precisely why I am here now. I had certain expectations, formed back in student classes connected with our company, and they matched reality. The atmosphere in the team and the tasks I performed during the internship suited me very well. I like my work very much and I hope to keep growing in this field.

How do you assess the move from student life to work? Was it difficult to adapt?

Alexandra:
— On the whole, studying and working are completely different things, as Alina and I have probably both experienced. There is responsibility in study too, but not of the same level as at work. And in general, work has more to do with discipline. The transition was smooth, because I was given time to get used to my place and my role. Nobody rushed me there, nobody demanded that I start producing immediately, and I am very grateful for that. When people help you understand what is expected of you and give feedback in a friendly way, adaptation happens faster and more comfortably. Besides, the knowledge I gained at university came in useful too, so I felt confident.

Alina:
— Yes, I agree. If you have the basic knowledge and the team is set up to support you, adaptation is easy. Of course there was a lot that was new, but the tasks were interesting, and that motivated me to keep learning and growing.

What advice would you give students who are about to do an internship or have recently started working?

Alexandra:

— Do not be shy about asking questions and asking for help. It is very important to be open to new knowledge and to accept support from colleagues. Do not be afraid of mistakes — they are part of learning.

Alina:
— I would add that it is useful to study the company in advance and understand what it does, so that you arrive with a certain level of preparation. And most importantly — enjoy the work and do not be afraid to try new things.
